Blogging from my new toy

Okay, here’s the deal: I just unloaded a ton of cash on a 16GB iPod Touch. Cash that could’ve bought me a ton of anime DVDs, dozens of volumes of manga, maybe three or four figurines … well, you get the idea. I’m now trying to squeeze my money’s worth out of this overpriced little toy by playing around with all its fancy features – one of which is Apple’s Safari Internet browser. As a test (and also for a bit of fun), I logged the device into our home WiFi network and tapped out this brief blog post.

Christmas Stocking Stuffers

In our family, we can tell that Christmas is coming when mum breaks out the “holiday china”: a set of gilt-edged porcelain dishes bearing a pattern of green holly leaves and red berries. Sure, it’s been two weeks since the fake pine tree first sprouted up in the living room and the traditional nativity scene appeared in the formal dining room (not to mention the plastic pine boughs dotted with poinsettias that are now choking the life out of our walls and ceilings), but we know the holidays are just around the corner when we start eating breakfast off plates that Mrs. Claus might’ve had in her kitchen.

So in anticipation of this year’s festivities, I present a list of the goodies I’ve lined up for acquisition over the next couple of months (as well as some of the stuff I’ve recently purchased). THE END.

Well, not quite.

We still have Tanigawa Nagaru‘s original light novel series, now on its ninth volume (with the tenth expected soon). There’s a more-than-vague possibility of a second season for the anime series. We have a manga adaptation, three radio dramas, a drama CD, nine character albums – the list just keeps going on and there’s simply no end in sight, at least not for the foreseeable future. So long as we poor suckers keep lining up for a lick of the lollipop, KyoAni’s franchise juggernaut will keep the sweet stuff coming. (Salve lucrum!)

Today the spotlight falls on the fourth and final volume of Kadokawa/Bandai’s special edition Region 1 Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu DVD series, which was officially released in the US on Tuesday (06 November).

This bit of news isn’t so hot anymore, but I’d be remiss in my duties as a Kagamiist if I didn’t give it some space on this blog. The comedy series Lucky Star has been licensed for distribution in North America by Kadokawa Pictures USA and Bandai Entertainment, Inc. – the same companies behind this year’s Region 1 DVD release of the hit series Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu.

Lucky Star licensed by Kadokawa and Bandai

I’ve been out of the city for a couple of days so I’ve fallen way behind on things. Anyway, this is just to confirm what everyone else already knows: Lucky Star has been licensed for distribution in North America by Kadokawa Pictures USA and Bandai Entertainment, Inc.

Proper post to follow. For now, I’ve got some unpacking to do.
