When life hands you a 10,000-yen note . . .

. . . what would you do?

I’d like to say I’ll go with Option C, but Option B sounds awfully tempting.

  1. I’d probably convert it into Peso and use it to finance my hobbies, or frame it and hang it on the wall.

  2. No need to think. Buy figurines/manga/anime dvds. Then again,10000 is kinda little =X

  3. Individually, yes, it’s not much. At the going rate, JPY10,000 is only worth US$84 – more than the common man’s pocket change but only a fraction of the amount needed to get all four Haruhi DVDs. What amazes me is how much they’ve collected so far: more than JPY4 million from gents toilets, plus JPY1.81 million from an apartment building and another million outside a convenience store. What amazes me more is the fact that all of it has been turned over to the authorities.

If that ever happens here, no-one will even hear of it: people will probably slip the cash into their pockets without a second thought and without letting anyone else know. Forget the police – handing them the loot for “safekeeping” is as good as giving it to them for keeps.
