From Anime News Network: “ADV Films Reportedly Suspends 4 DVD Titles Indefinitely“.
Robert’s Anime Corner Blog has some up-to-the-minute information on this issue here.
Kanon 6 – the LAST volume in the series – is one of the four.
As one irate commenter pointed out on the message board: “Umm, ADV? You do not drop out of a series while releasing THE LAST DISC. Stop failing so much and give me my UGUU.”
Amen to that!
UPDATE (05 July 2008): It appears that ADV’s distribution rights to Kanon – along with dozens of other titles – have been transferred to Funimation. Details are a little sketchy, but Anime News Network has a full list of titles here (and the original press release is here). I don’t know if they’ll be able to ship out Volume 6 anytime soon, but at least there’s a good chance that we will get it at some point in the future. (Preferably tomorrow. But now’s fine, too.)

o: I was just gonna start my collection in Anime (Just been collecting Manga) and on my list to get was Kanon, maybe i will wait getting these until this sorted out.
Those with OCD will forever hate ADV now.
Ouch… It just had to be the last volume. I think ADV’s having some financial difficulties just now.
